Armstrong bids Farewell to Fire Chief

Armstrong, BC – The City of Armstrong announces the departure of Fire Chief Ian Cummings from the Armstrong-Spallumcheen Fire Department after three decades of service. Chief Cummings is set to assume a new role of Fire Chief for Peachland on May 27, 2024.
Fire Chief Cummings has been an integral part of the Armstrong-Spallumcheen Fire Department for the last 30 years. Serving as the paid on-call Fire Chief from November 2009 to January 2017, when he became the first full time Fire Chief for the Commission.


“We extend our gratitude to Chief Cummings for his service to the City of Armstrong,” expressed Mayor Cramer. “Peachland will benefit from Chief Cummings’ leadership skills. We wish him success in his future endeavors.”


The City of Armstrong extends best wishes to Chief Cummings as he embraces this new chapter in his career.


The search for a new Chief will be initiated as soon as possible. In the interim, Deputy Ian McKechnie, will assume the role of Interim Fire Chief, providing steady leadership until a permanent appointment is made.
