Wildfire Evacuees All Wildfire Evacuees please make sure you have registered with Emergency Social Services (ESS) 1-800-863-6582.  

Campfire Ban in Effect July 7, 2017 at noon

Effective at noon on Friday, July 7, 2017, campfires are prohibited throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety.

Anyone found in contravention of an open burning prohibition may be issued a ticket for $1,150, required to pay an administrative penalty of $10,000 or, if convicted in court, fined up to $100,000 and/or sentenced to one year in jail. If the contravention causes or contributes to a wildfire, the person responsible may be ordered to pay all firefighting and associated costs.

Property Taxes

Property Taxes were due TUESDAY, JULY 4, 2017.

Any outstanding balances (including unclaimed Home Owner's Grant) received a 10% penalty which has now been applied to your property account. View our Property Tax Page for more information.

Bear Activity in the City

The City of Armstrong has seen an increase in bear activity over the past several weeks particularly in the area of Highland Park. The RDNO and Conservation Services is working with the public to provide residence with “Wild Safe” information, education, and how to manage bear attractants. For more information click here. 

Stage 1 Water Conservation In Effect

The City of Armstrong has switched back to the primary water source effective June 12, 2017 and Stage 1 Water Conservation is in effect.

Garbage Collection

Waste Connections of Canada is the contractor for residential curbside garbage collection. The contact phone number for Waste Connections of Canada is 1-855-765-0565. Residents can use this number to report garbage-related problems. Complaints regarding garbage collection in general can be made directly with City Hall.

Storms

Intense storms can cause localized drainage and flooding issues. To help prevent possible drainage and flooding problems, residents should ensure all catch basin drains and culverts on or near their properties are kept clean of debris at all times. It is very common for drains to become plugged during storm events.

Landfill Hours of Operation

The Armstrong Spallumcheen Recycling and Disposal Facility is open year round. For the most up-to-date hours you can check their website at the link provided. You can view the schedule here.

Recycling:

Recycling is looked after through Multi Material BC. The local contractor is Emterra Environmental and they can be reached at 250-545-4245 with inquiries or bin requirements. For more information on the program visit their website.
