Armstrong Activates Stage Two Water Restrictions

Armstrong, BC—The City of Armstrong is activating Stage 2 Water Conservation Restrictions effective at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, May 15th, 2024.


These restrictions are in place as we switch our water source to our wells due to increased water turbidity in Fortune Creek due to spring run-off.

Compliance with water conservation measures is mandatory for all residents within the following specified areas:

– City of Armstrong
– Pleasant Valley Water Works District
– Round Prairie Waterworks District
– Highland Park Waterworks District
– Stardell Waterworks District
– Silver Star Waterworks District
– Lansdowne Waterworks Districts
– Residents of Spallumcheen receiving City of Armstrong water

City Bylaw 1806 Water Use and Conservation Stage 2 Restrictions are –

no person shall:
I.) use a sprinkler or irrigation system to water a lawn, garden, trees, or shrubs;
II.) wash driveways, sidewalks, parking lots or exterior building surfaces.

a person may:
I.) water a lawn, flower or vegetable garden, trees, shrubs or landscaped area, which combined do not exceed one acre in size if watering is done by hand-held container or a hose equipped with a shut-off nozzle but only during the prescribed Stage 1 watering hours and days;
II.) water newly planted trees, shrubs, flowers and vegetables, new sod or newly seeded lawn if watering is done by hand-held container or a hose equipped with a shut-off nozzle during installation and for the following 24 hours;
III.) wash a vehicle with water using a hand held container or hose equipped with a shut-off nozzle but only during the prescribed Stage 1 watering hours and days;
IV.) fill or top up or add to a swimming pool, wading pool, hot tub, garden pond or decorative fountain but only during the prescribed Stage 1 watering hours and days.

The City of Armstrong will issue notification when Stage 1 Water Conservation measures are reinstated. All are required to actively participate in water conservation efforts. For further information on water conservation in Armstrong, please visit: https://cityofarmstrong.bc.ca/water-conservation/
