Business Licence Renewal: Due March 1
All businesses operating within the City of Armstrong must hold a valid Business Licence in accordance with the Business Licensing and Regulation Bylaw No. 1845.
A Business Licence helps ensure businesses operate safely and in compliance with local regulations. It also allows the City to support a fair and consistent business environment for local entrepreneurs.
The City of Armstrong offers several licensing options depending on the type of business you operate.
Annual Business Licence
Businesses operating within the City require an Annual Business Licence. To apply, submit a completed application form and applicable fees to City Hall.
Inter-Community Business Licence
Businesses working in multiple communities may qualify for an Inter-Community Business Licence. This program allows businesses to work in participating municipalities without purchasing a separate business license in each community.
Mobile Vendors
A Mobile Vendor is a business that sells goods or services from a motor vehicle, trailer, or other mobile unit, such as a food truck or mobile retail vendor.
Mobile vendors operating in the City of Armstrong must obtain a Business Licence and provide supporting documentation as required with their application. This may include proof of property owner permission, appropriate insurance, and approvals from applicable provincial authorities.
Mobile vendors must also ensure waste and recycling receptacles are available when operating.

Permits & Bylaw Information
Businesses may require additional permits depending on their operations.
Sidewalk Use Permit
Businesses wishing to place items such as sandwich board signs, display racks, or patio seating on City sidewalks must obtain a Sidewalk Use Permit.
Signage
All signage within the City must comply with the Sign Bylaw. In order to display this type of promotional opportunity, you must receive a permit.
Building & Development Information
The Planning & Development department processes applications including:
- Building permits
- Rezoning applications
- Development permits
- Development variance permits
- Subdivisions
- Official Community Plan amendments
- Agricultural Land Reserve applications

FAQ
When are Business Licences due?
Business Licence renewal notices are mailed in January and are due March 1 each year.
A 10% penalty may apply to late payments.
How can I pay my business licence?
Payments can be made:
- In person at City Hall (cash, cheque, or debit)
- By mail (cheque)
- Through online banking: add City of Armstrong – Utilities as a payee and use your Business Licence account number as the account number.

Cancelling a Business Licence
If you wish to cancel your Business Licence, submit a cancellation request form to City Hall.
Forms can be:
- Delivered to City Hall (3535 Bridge St)
- Emailed to info@cityofarmstrong.bc.ca
If you reopen the business later, a new application will be required.
