Under Direction of the Armstrong Spallumcheen Fire Department Chief Ian Cummings, the City of Armstrong is issuing a campfire ban effective noon (12:00 p.m.) on Thursday, August 4, 2022. This fire ban is aligned with the BC Wildfire Service – Kamloops Fire Centre campfire prohibition.
In addition to campfires, Category 2, and Category 3 open fires, the following activities are also prohibited:
the use of fireworks;
the use of sky lanterns;
the use of burn barrels or burn cages of any size or description;
the use of binary exploding targets;
the use of tiki and similar kinds of torches;
the use of chimineas; and
the use of outdoor stoves and other portable campfire apparatuses not CSA or ULC approved.
This campfire prohibition will remain in effect until noon (12:00 p.m.) on Saturday, October 15, 2022, or until the orders are rescinded.
